The attempt to ask the artist to analyze his reasons and motives for being an artist, his raison d'être, is futile, as the whys and wherefores of creative art are in a process of perpetual change, similar to the sunset.

This is also why it is somehow incorrect to explain and give reasons why I have always been attracted to man being man, a creature in a ceaseless process of change emanating from the depths of his inner being and influenced by external experience and stimuli. These forces are continuously and mutually interacting.

I started the series "The Human Condition" in 1985. My work on this series lasted about four years. There is a contrast between the strong colours and the human condition of the characters, which were drawn out of a jigsaw of memories, photographs and the imagination.

As I worked, I felt the colours further strengthening the characters living in certain conditions of existence.

The hands and the facial expressions intrigue me as the energetic center of the human entity. I am fascinated and enthralled at the gamut of appearances inherent in the human existence, particularly at those moments where a person cannot or will not hide behind his mask, and is exposing the human conditions with their diverse problems.

All these aspects I have tried to express in my paintings.
